Her mouth slams closed and her eyes flick to mine, a defiant kind of darkness clouding over her. I release her throat, stepping backwards. “Get the fuck out of this club, Ruckus. Fuck.” Her face pales, and I know it’s because of my use for her nickname. Hadn’t said those sinful fucking syllables since I left all those years ago, and you know what they taste like right now? Like fucking poison.
